JACKIE CHAU
Contrast
Located at Dumbarton Rock, Scotland, the proposal uses contrasting qualities: light and materiality to create an unique experience for users. Approaching the building, the external material consists of a smooth granite finish which invites users in. Upon entering, the interior completely contrasts to the exterior. The space is dark and on the other side is a faint glow behind a door which creates a sense of curiousity for the individual to see what's behind.
Once the individual opens the door, they are confronted with a tall narrow opening which looks over the edge of a cliff. The proposal aims to instill fear to those afraid of heights.
