Dance Centre for the Third Age
Located on the Altyre Estate, Inverness, Scotland. The project aims to tackle the negative consequences linked to ageing through dancing. Through dancing, the elderly can acquire the various benefits in an enjoyable manner: Social, Mental and Physical.
Connected to the existing buildings, the new proposal comprises of a series of a solid voids clustered together to establish a new rhythm on the site. Furthermore, the new spaces vary in volume as well as the atmosphere.
New materials are introduced to the site which not only allow the new to be distinguished from the old but complement it.








A faceless volume cladded with Red Cedar sits adjacent to an existing building serves as a new entrance to the centre.

A glazed corridor connects the old and new together and provides a constant visual connection with the courtyard.
